Week 15 Review – Premier Division

Greville win league, West Brom whitewash Windmill

Well done to the Greville Arms for winning the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League in week 15, potentially a record for the earliest triumph in this league. They defeated M&B Cheslyn Hay 8-2 to move 38 points clear at the top. Captain Josh Hale says “superb win against M&B. Green was very away friendly and we’ve done well to get 8 points from the game and was probably not the result M&B deserved in all truth. It’s been a few years since we’ve had our hands on the title and it feels great to have it back home. As a side we’ve been solid all season and the points gap between us and second shows just how dominant we have been. With the additions of Ryan and Russ Prosser this year the club has come on leaps and bounds. It’s evident they was the missing link we have been searching for.” Stand in captain Russ Prosser added that he’s been “helped by having two players unbeaten in Callum Mitchell and Ryan Prosser, that’s a massive help and achievement.” Ryan was best winner 4, with Carl Fielding getting MVP for winning 20 against Steve Davis, who also got MVP. M&Bs best winner was Aaron Tapper 12. West Brom FSC earned a massive whitewash against Windmill to move 6 points clear of the relegation zone. Best winner and MVP was Ciaran Andrews 21-6. Dave Hayward got MVP for the Mill for getting 17. Moseley CC got a big win in their quest for 2nd after beating main rivals Stretton Anglesey 8-2. Best winner was Scott Saunders 10 with James Seville getting MVP for winning 14. For Stretton it was Conor Chamberlain best winner 12 and Neil Brown MVP for winning 19. Willenhall Nordley drew level with Stretton on points after defeating Triplex 7-3. Richard Bate was best winner 8 and Dan Bodley MVP for winning 12. Rob Recardo was best for the visitors 11 and Simon Dreher MVP for winning 15. Baldwin defeated The George 7-3 to keep clear of trouble. Andrew Boswell was their best winner and MVP 10 with Mark Street the same for the visitors 21-8.

Greville Arms are 38 clear of Moseley CC, who are 2 ahead of Stretton Anglesey and Willenhall Nordley. Windmill are 4 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay and Triplex. Callum Mitchell is 2 wins ahead at the top of the League Averages, and Danny Statham has won the most MVPs with 9.
