Gameweek 4 Review – Division One

King George whitewash, Tanworth win big again

King George V produced a whitewash in Gameweek 4 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Neil Harrell said “my team played the green really well even with it being slightly heavy. Tom Pritchard was unbelievable in the corners (to be best winner and MVP 3). Frank Leek was not a lot outside of a foot most of the game. Andy Sprason bowled well for his 14 and Richard Parkes was unlucky not to win (and got MVP for his 19). The other 4 were on at the same time as me so can’t really comment on them.” Tanworth In Arden won another game 9-1 as they beat the Windmill. Skipper Stuart Bishop was “pleased with our home result again picking up 7 out of the 8 winners. This means we have picked up two more points over the two games against the Windmill.” Stuart himself and Matt Higgins won both 3, with the captain winning MVP. Darrell Handley was the Mill’s only winner 20 to earn MVP also. Ward End Cons won 8-2 against Netherseal with John Evans best winner and MVP 2 and Darren Staley the same for the visitors for his 4 win. Woodfield will be happy with their 3 winners at Royal Oak. Captain Nick Newey was best winner and MVP 10, while Adam Hopwood was best winner 6 but Dave Scriven got MVP for his 20 win.

Ward End Cons lead Tanworth In Arden by 3 points at the top while Penn and Stretton Anglesey are tied at the bottom. Three players have won 4 out of 4 with Darren Staley leading those on aggregate. Darrell Handley now has three MVPs and is out on his own.
