Week 1 Review – Premier Division

Good start for Champs, perfect start for the George

It was a good start for the reigning champions Willenhall Nordley in week 1 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They defeated rivals the Greville Arms 9-1 to have a near perfect start. Captain Scott Simpson knew it was “important to get off to a good start in the Summit and we did just that against a good Greville side who will go close as always! Good to be back!” Best winner was Paul Evans 8, with Steve Bodley MVP for his 15 win. The only winner for the 2019 Champions was Darren Plenderleith 12, which earned him MVP. The George went one better and won 10-0 against Dudley Dell. Russell Prosser and Richard Dandy were best winners 5, with Rich getting MVP. Simon Homer got MVP for the Dell for getting 12. Moseley CC defeated Tanworth in Arden 8-2 with Malcolm Follis best winner 9. The two winners for the away side were new signing Tom Pritchard 17 and Willie Jeynes 20, the latter gaining MVP. M&B Cheslyn Hay also won 8-2 against West Brom FSC. Daniel Edkins was best winner 11 with Kevin Keary getting MVP for winning 12. For the away side it was Chris Watts who won 11 to be best winner and MVP. Stretton Anglesey will be happy with their 3 winners at Moor Lane on their debut in the top division. Darren Carter was their best winner and MVP 11, with Brian Yourell the same for the home side with his 21-4 success.
