Early leaders Willenhall Nordley face a tough trip to Tanworth In Arden in week 2 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Premier Division. They had a near perfect start against one of their title rivals last week but a trip to Tanworth is a different prospect. Tanworth captain Stuart Bishop says “this will be a tough game against a quality side but we are looking forward to the challenge.” Fellow title rivals the George face an away game at West Brom FSC, where they might be looking for an early away win. West Brom will know home form will help avoid the bottom two they finished in back in 2019. The Greville Arms will look to bounce back from that solitary winner at Nordley when they host Moseley CC, whereas Moseley will look to build on their good home win. Stretton Anglesey have their first home game in the Premier Division and host an M&B Cheslyn Hay side that may not have much knowledge of their green. Moor Lane have the bye after the withdrawal of Dudley Dell.

Langley will be looking to bounce back in week 2 of Division One after their whitewash in their first game when they take on Baddesley. Captain Sarah Beaman says “after our first game away at Belmont and a white wash, not the best start for us. But we are strong at home. Hoping that as they only see our green once a year, they may find it tricky and turn around our bad start and get on a winning road.” Baddesley will look to build on their good home win two weeks ago, with Belmont also looking to do the same when they travel to Hamstead, who will be looking to settle in at their new green and get some good home wins. Triplex host Wrockwardine Wood, with the Wrockites being the only team they beat at home last season. But Chris Baker knows this is a different season and is “very much looking forward to the visit of Wrockwardine Wood to Triplex tomorrow. We’re enjoying the challenge of the summit league and looking to improve following our first season in the league last year. Although we only had the one winner away at Baddesley in our opening game, we performed really well as a team and could have earned another couple of points We have a young team with lots of enthusiasm and some real prospects for the future.” The Wrockites have another away game following their one winner at the Windmill in the first, so will be looking to improve on that point in this one. The Windmill though will look for a similar score as they host the Baldwin who had a good home win first game over Woodfield. Woodfield have an all Staffordshire clash with Victoria Park, who will have good green knowledge given that they will have two players who played for them last season in Stuart Edwards and Pete Cookson.
