Week 9 Review – Division One

Baddesley Whitewash, Windmill win away

Baddesley whitewashed Langley in week 9 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Division One. Jordie Baddeley led the way with a 21-1 win to earn MVP, while MVP was given to Mike Tunstall for the visitors for getting 17. Windmill earned a vital win away at 3rd placed Baldwin 8-4. Stand in captain Stu Gittings said “we turned up at Baldwin looked at the green and thought we want to play that in magnificent condition anyway back to the bowling. We had a good start with Glyn Storer beating Emily Kernick 8, I think he fried her brain a little! Dave Chester was bowing well and finished his game off good for a win (13 to be MVP). Dan Green was struggling a little in the corners but battled for 12 and as for Lee Cavill against Shannon Kernick, I was really happy he got 12 as Shannon played really really well (to be best winner with Jack Newsome and MVP) so we ended up around 3 shots up. Back four went on and when Danny Statham won 8 (to be best winner with Glyn) it gave us a 16 shot cushion, and a quick rally around the other 3 lads on the green who were all behind worked well and we managed to get the victory on shots. A much needed win which keeps the pressure on the league leaders.” Belmont Services returned to a home game with a 9-1 win over Hamstead. Captain Brian Jordan said it was a “very good home win for Belmont as we had a couple missing but the lads who came in did well. Green was a bit green and brown with some good bowling from both sides. Joe Bown bowled very well for them (to be best winner and MVP 11) as did Darren Staley (best winner and MVP 7), Colin Belcher and Rikki Higgs for us. I came back from 15-12 down to run out against Andy Sprason who bowled very well. All in all my lads bowled well and deserved the win. Once again played in good spirits from both sides.” Wrockwardine Wood had another good home 7-3 against Triplex. Josh Cotton and Aaron King were best winners 5, with Aaron getting MVP. For the visitors it was Paul Baller who was best winner 11, and Brian Niblett getting MVP for winning 20. Victoria Park defeated Woodfield 8-2 with Julie Alderman best winner and MVP 1, and Joe Dicken winning 18 and Craig Taylor 20, the latter getting the MVP.

Baddesley are 15 points clear of Windmill, who are 7 ahead of Baldwin. Michael Lynch and Jordie Baddeley have won 9 out of 9.
