Nordley hang on, Greville send message
Willenhall Nordley are hanging on to the leaders the George after week 17 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They got 4 winners at Stretton Anglesey, while the George got just 1 winner at the Greville Arms. Nordley skipper Scott Simpson said “I think the result seals our fate. We battled really hard last night, hats off to Micky Ledwidge and Dan Bodley (who won MVP for his 16 win) as we all know John Dewey and Conor Chamberlain take some shifting on there. Rich Worthington and Matt Kelly-Wally (who won MVP winning 19) looked very good from what I saw and probably saw them grab the shots from out of our hands and probably gives us too much of a uphill task. We go into our game next week after a full house and ask the question I guess!” Scott himself was best winner 12, with Neil Brown best for the home side 8. The Greville scored an impressive 9-1 win over the league leaders the George. Captain Josh Hale said it was an “absolutely brilliant result for my lads. Arguably our best performance of the season and always nice to get one over our local rivals. Out the title race for this season going into the final game but we will take this result into next season to fuel our challenge for the title from the get go.” Josh himself was best winner 11, with Ash Bracken taking MVP for his 19 win. Matt Price was the winner for the leaders 11 to earn him MVP.
Moor Lane find themselves 7 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay with one game left after getting 3 winners at Tanworth in Arden. Bob Hickman was their best winner and MVP 8, and home captain Stuart Bishop was best winner with Dave Clarke 14, earning him MVP. M&B Cheslyn Hay defeated Moseley CC 6-4 that keeps Moseley a point above them. Neil Bromley was their best winner 10 and Steve Davis MVP for winning 19. For the visitors, Adam Kirby and Scott Follis were best winners 15 but Malcolm Follis got MVP for winning 19.
The George are 3 points ahead of Willenhall Nordley at the top. Moor Lane are 7 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay and 8 behind Moseley CC. Scott Simpson is on his own with 12 wins at the top of the Averages.
