Nordley earn fab five, M&B shock Atherstone
Willenhall Nordley got a fab five at the Greville Arms to keep in contention at the top of the table in week 11 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They came close to an amazing win as they dipped out by just one chalk with 5 winners, led by Scott Simpson’s 21-14 win to get him MVP. For the hosts it was Ross Dunkley who was best winner and MVP 7. M&B Cheslyn Hay brought Atherstone Cons back down to earth, after their win at the George, by beating them 8-2. Daniel Edkins was best winner and MVP 11 with Jordan Baddeley best winner and MVP for the Cons 8. The George bounced back from that home loss with an 8-2 win over Stretton Anglesey. Ryan Prosser was best winner and MVP 1, while Matt Kelly-Wally was best winner and MVP 17 for Stretton. Tanworth in Arden had an important 7-3 win over West Brom FSC. Willie Jeynes was best winner 7, but captain Stuart Bishop got MVP for winning 20. It was three close winners for the visitors, led by Rachel Bennett 19 and Mike Hill getting MVP for winning 20. Moseley CC continued their good run with 4 winners at Windmill. Phil Chester was best winner and MVP 11 for the home side, while it was James Seville and Scott Follis who were best winners 18 and Jack Badham MVP for winning 20 for the visitors.
The Greville Arms are two points ahead of the George, who have a game in hand, and another point ahead of Stretton Anglesey. Tanworth in Arden are five behind M&B Cheslyn Hay, and play their game in hand against Windmill on Sunday, who themselves are four ahead of M&B. Scott Follis is now in the lead with 10 wins at the top of the League Averages, with Ryan Prosser now leading the MVPs with 5.
