The George earn draw, Tanworth narrowly win
The George earned a great draw at West Brom FSC in week 15 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Elliot McGuinness said “we kind of stole an away result on Monday after a pretty good start, although I’d have probably taken 7 points if you’d offered it me before the game. We’re still in a good position but I think we’re going to need to win two of our remaining three away games if we’re going to take the title back to Warley.” Ryan Prosser was best winner and MVP 7 for them, while for the hosts it was Mike Hill who was best winner and MVP 7. Atherstone Cons moved top of the league with an 8-2 win over Windmill. Best winner and MVP was George Chapman 6, with Dave Chester best winner and MVP for the Mill 17. Tanworth in Arden earned a narrow 6-4 victory over Willenhall Nordley. Skipper Stuart Bishop said “this was a tough game against a quality team. Nordley started well with 3 winners, Dan Bodley playing very well to win 10 (to be best winner and MVP) and Ant Bracken and Paul Evans both coming from behind to win their games. Dave Clarke won to 12 to keep TIA in it . The second half went in favour of TIA, picking up 3 winners and the match overall. This was an important victory for TIA which keeps our chances of survival alive.” Best winner and MVP for the home side was Stuart Bishop 10.
Atherstone Cons are one point ahead of Willenhall Nordley, who are two ahead of Stretton Anglesey. M&B Cheslyn Hay are 5 behind Moseley CC and another 12 adrift of Windmill, who have three games in hand. Ant Bracken is 3 games ahead for the League Averages, but is level with Ryan Prosser for the MVPs.
