Week 3 Review – Premier Division

Stretton keep 100% record, West Brom & Moseley win well

Stretton Anglesey have the only 100% record in the league in week 3 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League after winning at Baldwin 9-3. Captain Paul Chamberlain said “to get 3 winners and a 16 loser when the first four were all well behind was pivotal to the win. The back four battled well despite good performances from Jim Kernick (best winner 7) and Karl Taylor. Overall pleased with a narrow win on an unfamiliar green to us. Special shout out to Baldwin for the superb food after.” Rikki Higgs was best winner 10 with John Dewey MVP 18, while Emily Kernick was MVP for the hosts 17. West Brom FSC continued their good start with a 9-1 win over Hamstead, Ciaran Andrews best winner 8 and Chris Watts MVP for winning 15. For the visitors it was Craig Webb who was the winner 20 to gain MVP. Moseley CC also won 9-1 over Atherstone Cons to give them a good home start. Skipper Scott Saunders said “it was a very good result, and much needed after our poor performance away to Nordley.” Bill Kinchin was best winner 10 with James Seville MVP for winning 11. For the away side it was Jordan Baddeley who was the winner and MVP 18.

The Greville Arms edged home The George 7-3 in a repeat scoreline of the reverse game. Callum Mitchell was best winner 12 and Darren Round MVP 16, with Adam Patrick best winner and MVP for the Champions 14. Windmill will be happy with an 8-2 win over Willenhall Nordley on their much changed green. Danny Statham was best winner 5 but Lee Cavill got MVP for winning 10. Kevin Hocknull was best winner for Nordley 10 and Dave Semper MVP for winning 14.
