Week 4 Review – Division One

M&B win away, Tanworth start off at home with bang

M&B Cheslyn Hay won away in week 4 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won 9-3 at Langley to keep up their good start. Captain Steve Davis says “it felt a good night to be away from home with the rain we had. We know how hard it can be at Langley when its moving however Jack Hill (MVP and best winner 3) got us off to a great start and we never really looked back. That’s two decent performances back to back going into Royal Oak at home next week.” Karen Rolls was best winner for Langley 13 with Darren Griffiths MVP for winning 17. Tanworth in Arden had a great start at home with a 9-1 win over Victoria Park. Skipper Stuart Bishop says it was a “great game played by both teams on a difficult green due to a heavy downpour about an hour before the start. The lads played well against a good quality Victoria Park team and we managed to nick all the close games. A good result for TIAs first home game.” Matt Higgins and Dave Clarke were best winners 12 with the latter getting MVP. Pete Cookson was the winner for Park 10 to earn MVP. Belmont Services beat Penn 8-2 to kickstart their season. Matt Fearn and James Southern were best winners 7, with James getting MVP, and Darrell Handley was best winner and MVP for the away side 11.

M&B Cheslyn Hay are 2 ahead of Victoria Park who are another one ahead of Triplex who have a game in hand. Jack Hill is the only player who has won 4 out of 4.
