Triplex Champs, M&B promoted, just!
One of the closest ever promotion races happened in week 18 of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. M&B Cheslyn Hay earned the second promotion spot by just 12 chalks, as both them and Tanworth in Arden were locked on 95 points. They won 7-3 against Woodfield, with Tanworth getting just 2 winners at Langley. M&B captain Steve Davis says “the weather played its part last night, pace of the green changing all the time but we managed to come away with a comfortable win against Woodfield who have a number of players that play our green well. Lucky for us the result was enough to pinch the second promotion place. Congratulations to Triplex who were the most consistent side this year.” Best winner for them was Steve himself 4 with MVP being Rob Foster MVP for winning 6. For Woodfield it was Chris Marshman and Joe Dicken best winner, with Joe getting MVP. Tanworth missed out after just two winners at Langley, Peter Mole 15 and Dave Wolverson 16, Dave getting MVP. Langley’s best winner and MVP was Kris Norgrove 8.
Triplex earned the title with a 9-1 win over Victoria Park, who after leading at the halfway stage drop down to 5th place. Skipper Chris Baker says “another steady home performance by the team saw us home by 60 shots with 7 winners. Our consistency throughout the season has shone through. We have had three excellent away wins and remained unbeaten at home during the season so our success is well deserved after two seasons of finishing third in Division One. We won the league by 18 points and look forward to another massive challenge for the club in 2025, when we look forward to taking on the cream of the Summit Premier League.” Paul Baller was best winner and MVP 4, while Gordon Hawkins was best winner and MVP 11 for the Park. Penn managed to get the final prize money position in 4th after beating 8-4, Jacob Ash leading the way 21-5 to earn MVP. Dane Hopwood was best winner 11 and Louis Jones MVP for winning 12.

Triplex finish 18 ahead of M&B Cheslyn Hay and Tanworth in Arden, with M&B getting 2nd by 12 chalks on aggregate. Darrell Handley won the League Averages, and Rory Rollason and Steve Darling finished on 6 MVPs.
