The 2024 Free Press Cup Final takes place today at 4 p.m. at Heath Hayes (WS12 3NH) with the Greville Arms taking on Winshill. The Greville have won this competition before, while Winshill are in their first Free Press Cup Final.
The Greville have won two cups already this season while Winshill lost out in their cup final earlier this season but did finish 3rd in the Burton League.
The Greville will start as favourites given their line up is full of players who have won big competitions like Darren Plenderleith, Carl Fielding, Ross Dunkley and Pete Dunkley. Winshill do have players with competition experience like Matt Farmer and Darrell Matkin as they look to cause an upset.
Greville captain Callum Mitchell says “we go into this final after a real good battle with KGV and off the back of securing a World Team Championship spot by winning our County Cup. We’re full of confidence and will go into this final giving it our all as I’m sure Winshill will too. Having started this competition at Meole back in June in the first round the lads have been brilliant throughout and deserve our spot in the final.”
