Nordley comeback, Windmill defeat Champs
Willenhall Nordley came back against Stretton Anglesey to win 7-3 in week 3 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Joint captain Steve Bodley said “the result Monday ended as a good result with a great performance from our back four who all won after a great performance from Stretton’s front four who took a 3-1 lead.” Best winner for them was Owen Evans 8, with Dan Bodley getting MVP for winning 9. For Stretton it was Richard Stretton best winner and MVP 8. Windmill also had a 7-3 win over the champions The George. Spokesman Dave Hayward said “it was a great win against a team that plays our green well, pace was a bit slow and our front four took advantage of it. It was a different story In the 2nd four where it was 2 winners each with Elliot McGuinness playing well earning his MVP (winning 12 to be best winner also) and Danny Statham playing outstanding and earning our MVP against Nathan Dawes (after winning 6 to be best winner).
The Greville Arms were another to win 7-3 against Moseley CC. Best winner and MVP was Callum Mitchell 5 with Grant Soller the same for Moseley with his 18 win. Baldwin and West Brom FSC won 8-2 against M&B Cheslyn Hay and Triplex respectively. Best winner for Baldwin was captain James Kernick 5 and MVP was Jonathan Griffin with his 19 win. George Pearson and Jack Hill both won 18 for M&B, with the former getting MVP. West Brom’s best winner was Andy Saunders 8 with Ciaran Andrews getting MVP for winning 11. Matthew Caines was best winner for Triplex 12, with Steve Darling getting MVP for getting 19 off Greg Smith.
