Boldmere overtake Tanworth, Park & Woodies win well again
Boldmere Sports & Social Club beat Division One Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League leaders Tanworth in Arden 9-1 to overtake them at the top of the Division. Captain Adam Weaver says it was a “superb result for us with some great battling performances from a couple of our lads to come back and win crucial points and move us into top spot. However there is still a lot of points to play for in this league with a few teams still close behind on our tail. Tanworth also have a crucial advantage of having more home games remaining than us so we know it’s going to be a tight run battle right up until the end of the season.” Best winner and MVP for them was Tim Mole 7, while the winner for the visitors was Mark Williams 17 to earn MVP. Victoria Park and Woodfield got good 8-2 home wins over Hamstead and Langley respectively. The Park’s best winner and MVP was Pete Cookson 3, with Hamstead’s being Wendy Bennett 9. Woodfield captain Nick Newey was best winner and MVP 7 for them, with Langley’s two winners being Kaye Coulthard 16 and Mike Tunstall 18, the latter getting MVP.
Boldmere Sports & Social are 5 ahead of Tanworth in Arden and another two ahead of Woodfield. Mark Williams and Sam Murray are on 6 wins, with Mike Tunstall and Nick Newey on 3 MVPs.
