M&B & Windmill go down, Triplex, Stretton snatch second
M&B Cheslyn Hay and Windmill were the two teams to go down in week 18 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. M&B defeated the champions Greville Arms 7-3 and by 4 but wasn’t quite enough. Best winner and MVP was Steve Davis 6, with Russ Prosser the same for the Champions with his 8 win. Windmill beat West Brom FSC 8-2 but it left them one point short. Glynn Storer was best winner 9, and Danny Statham added his 10th MVP with his 12 win. Greg Smith was best winner for the visitors 7 but it was Andy Saunders MVP for his 12 win. Triplex were the team to finish one point above Windmill as they beat Willenhall Nordley 7-3. Paul Baller was best winner 6 and Dan Baller MVP for winning 19. Owen Evans was best winner and MVP for the away side 10. Baldwin were only two points above the relegation zone after just one winner at the former Champions The George, who survived comfortably in the end. Elliot McGuinness, Jon Palmer and Mark Street were all best winners 11, but Phil Clinton was MVP for winning 15. Nick Peters was Baldwin’s winner and MVP 14. Stretton Anglesey snatched second place from Moseley CC with a 9-1 win led by Matt Milsom’s 7 win. Neil Brown was MVP for winning 8, while Scott Follis was the winner for Moseley 13 to earn MVP, and they will have definitely took 3rd place before the season started!
The Greville Arms finished 40 clear of Stretton Anglesey in 2nd, who were 3 ahead of Moseley CC. M&B Cheslyn Hay finished bottom a point behind Windmill who finished a point below Triplex. Callum Mitchell won the League Averages with 15 out of 17 wins, while Danny Statham won the most MVPs with 10.
