There are 5 teams in Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League looking for the 2 promotion spots to the Premier Division. Please see the Captains’ Previews below on who they have signed and lost and their thoughts and aims this season.
Club: Short Heath Libs
Captain: Jay Holdcroft
Aims & Thoughts: Short Heath’s aim initially were to play a range of different greens compared to the typical Thursday nights and Saturday afternoon venues. Obviously with the division not really hitting off, we have ended up playing 4 teams that we already play. Most of our players have previously played in the Summit at some level but are keen to see what the league is now like.
Club: Victoria Park
Captain: Chris Ward
Aims & Thoughts: No squad changes this season – green is in good condition (I’m told) so looking to securing some solid home results. As the division is all Staffs teams hopefully we can make use of our familiarity of the greens and pick up an away win or two.
Club: Woodfield
Captain: Nick Newey
Aims & Thoughts: We have lost Joe Dicken to Willenhall Nordley, Rory Rollason has moved to Birmingham and won’t be playing and I haven’t got ready replacements. I will probably be giving two young lads, Archie and Tom Lloyd added game and resorting to whoever else I can find. Our aim is to see the season out and fulfill every fixture.
