Triplex recorded the only whitewash in week 1 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They defeated Willenhall Nordley to please new captain Liam Lowery. “It was a great start to the season by the Triplex boys. Credit to the Nordley boys also played well unfortunately for them the Triplex lads were on form.” Best winner for them was Steve Darling 9 with Paul Baller MVP for winning 13. Mark Hall got MVP for Nordley for getting 19. Moseley CC started their season like they ended the last with a good 9-1 win over Baldwin. Skipper Grant Soller said “we welcomed a strong Baldwin team onto a superb surface at Moseley CC. It was pushy but to be expected at this early stage in the season. First 4 saw Moseley recording 4 winners, with quite convincing scores, 44 up. Second four saw Baldwin get their first and only winner as it turned out. John Beet overcoming Gavin Dunkley 11 earning their MVP award. Adam Kirby didn’t let up against Junior (Jonathan Griffin) seeing him win 21-4 (to be best winner) but Scott Follis in the first four with his 21-8 win over Karl Taylor saw him getting Moseley’s MVP.”
The Greville Arms started their defence with an 8-2 win over Tanworth in Arden. Ryan Prosser was best winner and MVP 6 for them, while the two winners for the visitors were Dave Clarke 18 and Dave Wolverson 19, with the latter gaining MVP. Stretton Anglesey also started strongly with a 9-1 win over Boldmere Sports & Social. Darren Carter was best winner and MVP 2 for them, with the away winner being Scott Wallis 16 to gain him MVP. The George started with an 8-2 win over West Brom FSC, Jon Palmer leading the way 21-8 to gain him MVP. Greg Smith was best winner and MVP for the visitors 15.
