The Les & Mel Evans MBE 2018 Memorial Classic takes place tomorrow at Chadsmoor Progressive WMC with Greg Smith looking for a history making fourth triumph. He faces Paul Evans first of all. Callum Wraight has won the competition before and plays Nathan Dawes first up, while his team mate, reigning Champion of Champion Mike Beer takes on Derbyshire’s Dave May. All England Champion Darren Plenderleith faces Stuart Rutter, while Stuart’s Shropshire county team mates Pete Farmer, Wayne Rogers and Colin Beaman face Tommy Johnstone, Glyn Storer and Rory Rollason respectively. Former Staffordshire Merit Champions Gordon Hawkins and Dave East play Paul Bailey and CCF Open Champion Ben Percival, while two meet when Scott Simpson takes on Chris Ward. Former Isle of Man Champion Leighton Roberts plays Tom Pritchard, while Elliot McGuinness clashes with Chris Brown and Andy Thornton makes the long trip down to play Gareth Herbert. Meole Brace Open semi finalist Jamie Bramley takes on local lad Darrell Handley in a clash of up and coming players, while Phil Lee plays All England runner up Ross Meese.
It promises to be a great day in honour of two great men who gave a lot to the game. Good luck to all competitors.
