Gameweek 11 Review – Premier Division

Greville whitewash away, Moor Lane whitewash at home

The Greville Arms became only the second ever team to record an away whitewash in Gameweek 11 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They won at West Brom FSC 12-0 to continue their resurgence and put pressure on the leaders the George. Captain Andy Nuttall said it was a “magnificent performance by the Greville boys. We had some great battles with guys coming from behind to get to their 21s meaning a full house.” Carl Fielding was their best winner 9 with Ross Dunkley getting MVP for winning 13. For the hosts, who will need to do very well to get out of trouble, had Rachel Bennett MVP for getting 19. The George beat M&B Cheslyn Hay 9-1 to limit the damage by that 12-0. Ben Harris was best winner 5 with Elliot McGuinness MVP for winning 19. For the visitors it was Cliff Johnson who was their winner and MVP 19.

Moor Lane whitewashed bottom team Moseley CC to continue their good start and make Moseley’s task of avoiding relegation even tougher. Joint captain Jack Whitehead said it “was a great performance Monday by everyone. With the green being a tricky pace for us, we all battled hard in our games to get over the line using the green’s hard marks to our advantage. It will be a tough game for us away at their place so we will all be going there with the best possible attitude.” St Georges got a good four at Willenhall Nordley to ease their relegation troubles. Colin Beaman was best winner 10 and Lewis Scott MVP 15, while for the home side it was Paul Evans and Wayne Jones best winners 8, with the former MVP. Castlefields beat Dudley Dell 7-3 with Keith Wall MVP and best winner 7 and Steve Shaw best winner 15 for the visitors, and Nathan Dawes MVP for winning 20.

The George are 9 points clear of the Greville Arms, while Moseley CC are 3 behind West Brom FSC still and another 11 adrift of M&B Cheslyn Hay. Callum Wraight is still unbeaten in 10 games, while 6 players have 4 MVPs in the race for the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. award.
