Greville win title, M&B all but secure survival
Greville Arms have regained the title of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Division in Gameweek 17. They got 4 winners at Castlefields, which coupled with the George’s 7-3 win over Moor Lane, means they are 11 points clear with one game left. Captain Andy Nuttall says ” it’s a great achievement to regain the league title after losing out last year on plus to the George. We’ve been on a tremendous run and the team spirit within the squad has been amazing battling for everyone. Last night at Castlefields was no exception. Castlefields put out a top quality 8 and for the Greville to come away with 4 points summed up our season. We’ll enjoy going to the George as champions in a fortnight and having a beer with them.” Their best winner was Steve Darling 8 which earned him the MVP award, while for the home side it was Paul Williams who was best winner 9, but Callum Wraight got MVP for winning 14. The George’s best winner was Pete Davenport 1 to earn him MVP, with the away side’s best being Ashley Hickman 9, which also earned him MVP.
M&B Cheslyn Hay have virtually secured their survival with a 9-1 win over the team directly below them, Moseley CC. Skipper Aaron Tapper said “we felt we could return the 9-1 result the week before with Moseley CC not visiting Cheslyn Hay for a few years. Moseley didn’t come at full strength but we were happy with the performance and look for something similar in our next game to finish season off.” Steve Davis was best winner 6, with Aaron MVP 8. For the visitors it was James Seville who was the winner 13, to also earn him MVP. Willenhall Nordley won 7-3 against West Brom FSC to move two points behind Moor Lane in 3rd. They had Dave Semper as their best winner and MVP 3, while for the visitors, it was Chris Watts 7. The result sent West Brom down after their long stay in the Premier Division. Dudley Dell beat St Georges 8-2 with Steve Homer and Jamie Wyer best winners 6, the former being MVP. For the visitors it was Pete Grimston who was best winner and MVP 12.
The Greville Arms are Champions, with West Brom FSC relegated. Moseley CC are ten points behind M&B Cheslyn Hay for the final relegation spot. Callum Wraight has won the League Averages with a perfect record of 15 out of 15 wins, missing the last game due to the Isle of Man. Andy Saunders has also won the Mark Taylor Support Ltd. MVPs.
