There are many top names heading to the Greville Arms today to take part in their invitational classic. George pair Greg Smith and Gareth Herbert are the favourites, the latter being a former home player. He takes on Stu Rutter while Greg plays Phil Lee in a tough opener. The tie of the round sees Elliot McGuinness play his George team mate Ryan Prosser who has had an excellent season. Callum Wraight is in hot form having won the Wharton Cons last night, and the Castlefields player has Willenhall Nordley’s Paul Evans. Callum beat Shane Day in last week’s Dennis Lewis Open Final, and Shane opens up against Mick Lynch of Baddesley. Scott Simpson is a proven competition player, and the Nordley man has James Thomas first up. Tom Pritchard of King George V has Adam Patrick of Moor Lane first game, with Adam’s team mate Jack Whitehead playing James Seville from Moseley CC. Opening up is Mike Tunstall against Chris Worthington, while Johnny Sneddon has Willie Jeynes of Tanworth in Arden just below. Willie’s team mate Barry Maskell plays Danny Ferris of the Potteries first game. Dudley Dell’s Paul Beechey plays Will Clarke and Jason Galvin of King George V takes on Chris Ward from M&B Cheslyn Hay in a tough game for both. Glen Herbert has Tom Roden, with Leighton Roberts of Castlefields playing Ward End Cons’ John Evans.
