The George win again, Tanworth ride luck
The George won away again in week 4 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League as they won 9-3 at Moor Lane. Captain Rob Carter said it was a “good performance from our team. Steve Jones played very well for them in the first four giving them a lead (to be MVP and best winner 5). All of our back four played well (Nathan Dawes, Elliott McGuinness, Ryan Prosser and Marc Wilson all winning well) to give us the win in the end.” Nathan was best winner and MVP 7. Tanworth in Arden had an incredible 9-1 win with three 21-20 winners. Skipper Stuart Bishop said it was a “great match. The 9-1 result does not reflect how well M&B played our green. 6 close games which on this occasion all went in favour of us but on another day it could have been so different.” Stuart himself got MVP for being one of those 20 winners, with Mark Williams best winner 9. M&Bs winner was Daniel Edkins 21-13 to earn him MVP. Stretton Anglesey will be happy with three winners on their first visit to Greville. Matt Milsom was best winner 13 with John Dewey MVP for winning 16, while Darren Round was best winner 7 for the home side, but Josh Hale got MVP for his 9 victory. Moseley CC beat West Brom FSC 7-3 with captain Scott Saunders leading the way with his 5 win, but Adam Kirby got MVP for winning 16. For the visitors it was Rachel Bennett who was their best winner 4, with Simon Homer getting MVP for winning 20.
The George are level with Greville at the top but have played a game less, while West Brom FSC are a point behind M&B Cheslyn Hay and Moor Lane. There are 10 players that have won 3 games, Scott Simpson leading them on aggregate.
