Week 12 Review – Division One

Baddesley win well, Triplex win away

Baddesley won well again as they beat Baldwin 9-1 in week 12 of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Harry Chapman was best winner 4, with Ben Lynch MVP for winning 5. Shannon Kernick was the winner for the visitors 17 to be MVP. Windmill lost ground to Baddesley as they had 2 winners at Belmont Services as Danny Statham was best winner and MVP 13. Rikki Higgs was best winner and MVP for the hosts who move level on points with Baldwin in 3rd. Triplex are also level on points in 3rd after winning 8-4 at Hamstead. Captain Chris Baker says it was a “great performance in the first four from young Matt Caines and Jack Darling winning 21-3 (to be best winner) and 21-12 to give us a commanding start, while Tony Dunks battled well for his 10 and Brian Niblett battled back well to scramble 18 leaving us a 13 lead going into the back four. The next two winners Steve Darling 21-15 (to be MVP) and Chris Baker 21-14 gave us a cushion to see the game home. A cracking away win from a young developing side.” Ben Harris was best winner for the home side 10 with Craig Dugdale MVP for winning 18. Wrockwardine Wood got a good 4 winners at Victoria Park. Skipper Martin Gaut said “we were prepared for the conditions but thanks to Victoria Park, they had plenty of chilled bottled water ready for us. A couple of good wins for them early, Stuart Edwards (best winner 7) and Gordon Hawkins were both very good. I was our winner in the front, I was 17-3 up and Ed had a good run before I won 10 (to be best winner). We gave the MVP to Chris Lester, he ran out from around 8-12. Louise got our MVP for a very good win against Peter Cookson, she played the green very well considering that she’s never seen it before and how difficult it was running. Sam Murray played some very good bowls to save game on a number of occasions before Martin Williams got out 17. Overall, very happy with 4 winners and as close as it looks on paper we were never really close to competing for the aggregate.” Langley had another good home win as they defeated Woodfield 8-2. Karen Rolls was best winner 6 with Kay Coulthard getting MVP for winning 9. Joe Dicken was best winner and MVP for the visitors 16.

Baddesley are 24 ahead of Windmill, who are 13 ahead of Baldwin, Belmont Services and Triplex. Michael Lynch and Jordie Baddeley are still unbeaten.
