George go clear, Stretton earn good win
The George have gone clear at the top of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Premier Division in week 13 after beating Moor Lane 9-1. Phil Clinton led the way winning 3 to earn MVP, while the away side’s winner was Richard Grant 20 to be MVP. The Greville Arms’ hopes of winning the league look more remote now after just 2 winners at Stretton Anglesey. Stretton captain Paul Chamberlain was “very pleased with the win against the Greville. In our first season in the top league it was always going to be difficult away from home so it was always going to be important to do well at home which we have done so far.” Conor Chamberlain was best winner and MVP 11 with Adam Weaver the same for the visitors with his 17 win. M&B Cheslyn Hay beat Tanworth in Arden 7-3 to give themselves more breathing space at the bottom of the league. Jack Hill was best winner and MVP 9 for them, with Nathan Pritchard best winner 7 and Simon Dreher MVP for his 11 win for the away side. West Brom FSC defeated Moseley CC 9-1 with Rachel Bennett MVP and best winner 3 and James Seville likewise for Moseley with his 14 win.
The George are 9 clear of Willenhall Nordley who are another 5 clear of the Greville who have played a game more. M&B Cheslyn Hay are 8 clear of Moor Lane now at the bottom, and are 5 behind Tanworth. There are now 5 players on 9 wins, with Scott Simpson leading them on aggregate.
