Week 16 Preview

Premier Division

The George face another away game which could decide if they regain the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League Premier Division title. They travel to Moseley CC 5 points ahead of 2nd placed Willenhall Nordley, who host M&B Cheslyn Hay. Moseley themselves still need the points, they are only 10 points ahead of Moor Lane in bottom who have 2 home games compared to Moseley’s one. Moseley skipper Scott Saunders says they are “treating it as a must win as we are on a bad run and needing to turn the corner with our final home game if we are wanting to stay in the top league.” M&B are 8 clear of Moor Lane and know they will still need to get as many points as possible at Nordley. The Greville look like they will finish in 3rd, especially given they have a tough trip to Tanworth in Arden. Tanworth aren’t completely safe yet, just two ahead of Moseley CC, meaning captain Stuart Bishop says “the team will be looking for a good home win. But know it will be a tough game against a quality team who know our green well.” Moor Lane need a good home win over West Brom FSC if they are to have a chance of staying up in the league, but West Brom are playing well lately and can still get a top four position and win some prize money.

Division One

Windmill will look to virtually seal promotion in week 16 of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They travel to bottom placed Langley 15 points ahead of Baldwin in 3rd, who go to Belmont Services. Langley are much improved in the second half though, and will be looking to continue that. Belmont are after a top five position to earn some prize money, but will want to improve on their 6-4 win last week at home. Triplex are also after a top five position, and host an out of form Victoria Park side. Captain Chris Baker says “we’re really looking forward to welcoming Victoria Park for their first visit to Triplex. We’re all keen to bounce back from two closely fought defeats at home to Baddesley and away to Woodfield. This is our last Summit home game of the campaign and we’re looking to forward to finishing on a high.” Hamstead host Woodfield with both teams just outside the top 5 at the moment. Hamstead skipper Craig Dugdale says “we have to be looking to reverse the score on Woodfield (8-2) to have a chance of finishing fifth. We have a good side out but have lost Luke Hall to the Army. The green is going to be quick but the way Woodfield has been running probably not too scary for the away side! But you never know!” Baddesley v Wrockwardine Wood has been postponed due to a bereavement, and has been rearranged for Saturday 27th August.
