Baddesley win promotion, Windmill edge closer
Baddesley have won promotion from Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League in week `15. They won 10-2 at Victoria Park to seal promotion in style. Captain Tom Lea said “once again the team put on a great performance and confirmed our promotion. Vic Park was an unknown entity and we knew that they played it well but the boys put in a real shift once again. Mike Lynch played the green like a homester (to win 11 and MVP) and Jordie Baddeley put on a great performance to remain unbeaten (to be best winner 9). The boys are looking onto our next game to try and secure the title.” Julie Alderman was best winner and MVP for the Park 19. The Windmill matched the Baldwin to remain heavy favourites to win promotion. They beat Hamstead 8-2 with Glynn Storer best winner 5 and Dave Hayward MVP for winning 6. For the away side it was Ben Harris who was best winner and MVP 16. The Baldwin defeated Langley as captain James Kernick was best winner and MVP 3, and Mike Tunstall best winner and MVP 17 for the visitors. Wrockwardine Wood scored a good 4 away at Belmont Services. Skipper Martin Gaut said “the long journey for our first visit to Belmont Services turned out to be well worth it. On a small green that none of us had seen before our 4 winners were well deserved. Helen Clee, in particular, played very well to be our best winner (14) and Allan Gaut played it really well (to win 16) and deserved the MVP award.” Rikki Higgs was best winner and MVP 6 for the home side. Woodfield beat Triplex 7-3 with John Newey best winner and MVP 5 for the hosts. Steve Darling and Dan Bowater were best winners for Triplex 16, with Dan getting MVP.
Baddesley are 25 ahead of Windmill, who are 15 ahead of Baldwin. Jordie Baddeley is still unbeaten on 15 wins.
