Triplex earn 3rd, Belmont snatch 5th
Triplex earned 3rd place in Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League after a fine 10-2 win at Langley in week 18. Skipper Chris Baker said it was “a stunning team performance which all started with two single figure winners in the first four, Matt Caines winning 6 (to be best winner and MVP) and Paul Baller winning 7. That start really set the standard for the rest of the team to follow and helped us secure 6 winners and a plus of 25. Congratulations to everyone that has played this season in helping us rise to 3rd place in a really competitive league.” It was an even more remarkable achievement given last season they won just one game all season! The Langley’s Matt Beaman was best winner and MVP 8. Baldwin finished 4th as they only got one winner at Wrockwardine Wood. Emily Kernick was the winner 21-9 to earn her MVP, while for the much changed Wrockites, due to the Isle of Man Festival, it was Martin Williams best winner 6 and Sian Skelton MVP 11. Belmont Services stole 5th place from Woodfield as they beat them 8-2. Captain Brian Jordan says it was “just another good game for us. There were a couple of close games. Ryan Worthington (best winner 6) and Colin Belcher for me played best for us. Craig Taylor did well against me. They are nice lads, it’s been a good league and greens. We look forward to next season!” MVP for them was Rikki Higgs 14, while Mick Hill was best winner and MVP 15 for the away side. Hamstead scored a great 8-2 win against the League Champions Baddesley to end their season well. Best winner and MVP was Ben Harris 5 with Willie Beal the same for the Champions 6. Victoria Park also enjoyed an 8-2 win over runners-up Windmill to end their season in style. Julie Alderman was best winner 11 with Gordon Hawkins MVP for winning 17. For the Mill it was Alan Brown 10 and Glynn Storer 20 who were the winners, with the latter getting MVP.
Baddesley win the league by 23 points ahead of Windmill, who finish 15 points ahead of Triplex. Jordie Baddeley wins the League Averages, winning 17 out of 18 games.
