See an update below from Steve Clamp, one of those walking with Lynn Pritchatt in the Walkathon.
Day 6 completed…..and we’re back in England!!! Setting off from Hawkesbury Bowling Club in Wales (with a fantastic send off and donation from their members) we headed along the River Dee into the heart of Chester. Calling by the racecourse, we then headed through the centre and headed out to our destination at Hoole Bowling Club. About 20Km in total on a lovely warm September’s day. Enroute we also saw the super-transporter Airbus ‘Beluga’, taking off from Broughton, delivering aeroplane wings across the world!!! We were joined on the day by Nicola Boulton, current IOM June Ladies Champion and, following the day’s walking, we met up with Nicola again at Owley Wood in the evening. We were given a warm welcome as guests at the match between Owley Wood and Frodsham Red Lion. As with all of the host Clubs, Owley Wood rolled out the red carpet and we had a fantastic night of fundraising for MND…..thank you!!!
Today sees us start our journey over the Peak District, starting in Poynton and climbing up to New Mills. We know the weekend is going to be very challenging, but raising both awareness and vital funds will drive us on!!!And…..whilst we’re on the subject of fundraising….we believe that, with Gift Aid, we’ve hit our original target of £10,000!!!
So, after much discussion, we’ve set ourselves a new challenge of doubling it to £20,000!!! We know it’s going to be a tall order BUT, with the everyone’s support, the additional monies raised would make a massive difference to the research into MND projects.
