Premier Division Season Captain’s Preview

The Premier Division starts later today and it promises to be another cracker of a season. Below is a preview of some of the teams as said by their captains.

Club: Atherstone Cons

Captain: Tom Lea

Our squad for this season remains unchanged from last season, however we have a new home green so we will see how much of an advantage that gives us at home in comparison to Baddesley. Our aim for the season is just to see what we can do in terms of league position. We have a good squad and I expect us to stay up at least.

Club: Greville Arms

Captain: Josh Hale

We have gained Steve Wallace back full time which is a massive boost for the club not just on the green but what he brings off it. Adam Weaver isn’t playing for us and has signed for a new club but we wish him all the best in his future endeavours at the George.

Apart from that we are pretty much as you would expect. We would like to be challenging again at the top of the table and see no reason why we won’t be. We’re goning to have to be very consistent from the start to push the George and Nordley for the title.

Club: M&B Cheslyn Hay

Captains: Steve Davis & Jack Hill

Chris Ward after a long service has sadly walked away from playing Mondays. His service has been greatly appreciated and he will forever be a team mate.

We have Lee Hulse, Richard Holmes and Joe Green already within the ranks stepping up to play Mondays. As a club we know securing our place for next season will be a struggle, with poor home form the last couple of seasons being the heart of any downfall, so this season we are determined to put this right!

Club: Moseley CC

Captain: Scott Saunders

Club: Stretton Anglesey

Captain: Paul Chamberlain

We are missing Andy and Matt Milsom due to bans! We have a strong squad and my aim for this season is to do at least as well as last year when we were 4th.

Club: Tanworth in Arden

Captain: Stuart Bishop

Club: The George

Captain Elliot McGuinness

We have signed Adam Weaver. Aim for this season is to try and match last year and retain the premier division. We’re hoping to have greater availability from everyone this year and so I’m hoping we’ll be a bit stronger which we’ll need to be as the league looks to be the strongest it has been in a while.

Club: West Brom FSC

Captain: Matt Hocknull

Club: Willenhall Nordley

Captain: Dan Bodley

This year we haven’t gained or lost anyone, we are the same side that has performed very well in the league over the last few years. Our aims for this season will be to battle for that top spot the same as we have been in previous seasons.

Club: Windmill

Captain: Stuart Gittings

We’ve signed no one but have a few who are available if required or short.

Our aims are to stay in the league and hopefully not get to the pub before 8pm against Tamworth in Arden as we did last time we played them away. In seriousness we are looking forward to it, we have some good players and a great green but know we are against some very good teams and players so bring it on!
