Greville whitewash, Tanworth beat Champs
The Greville Arms registered a whitewash over Stretton Anglesey in week 2 of the Premier Division in the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Josh Hale said it was an “absolutely brilliant result against a top side. It gives us big confidence going into the break now. It was hard lines for Stretton who had a number of good individual performances.” Their best winner and MVP was Steve Wallace 9, while Darren Carter was MVP for the visitors for his 15. Tanworth in Arden also recorded a great result with a 7-3 win over the Champions the George, putting behind their whitewash the week before. Skipper Stuart Bishop said “after the whitewash the previous week the lads knew a performance was required and the whole team delivered. First 4 set the win up with some great bowling. Special mention to Mark (MVP 6) and Jake Williams, brilliant.” Stuart himself was best winner 5, with Nathan Dawes best winner and MVP 6 for the visitors. Moseley CC also won 7-3 against Atherstone Cons. Gavin Dunkley was best winner and MVP for his 8 victory, with Ben Lynch being best winner and MVP for the away side with his 10 win. Willenhall Nordley built on their away win in week 1 at M&B Cheslyn Hay by beating the same team 8-2 at home. Ant Bracken and Scott Simpson were best winners 7, with the former getting MVP for the hosts. Jordan Picken was best winner 16 for the visitors, but Jack Hill got MVP for getting 20. West Brom FSC had a good 8-2 win over Windmill with Gareth Herbert starring with a 4 win to earn MVP. For the Mill it was Danny Statham who was best winner and MVP with his 14 victory.
