Stretton shock Nordley, Greville whitewash inspiration
Stretton Anglesey did improve as they shocked Willenhall Nordley to win there 9-3 in week 6 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Skipper Paul Chamberlain said “we were very good last night, didn’t see a drop of rain but the green was friendly. At the end of the day our best 8 or 9 should be able to trouble anyone. Decided to just attack from the start but, having said that, it was just about our best 8. We were probably a little unlucky not to get one more. John Dewey lay game on with a side toucher and another decent bowl and Scott Simpson rested the shot bowl for game. Neil Brown was 20-18 up and went through a gap at 20 across. Darren Carter also played well with Ant Bracken (Ant was best winner 15 to earn MVP). All in all a very good performance.” Matt Kelly-Wally was best winner and MVP for them 12. Greville completed another whitewash for the second time this season against Atherstone Cons. Captain Josh Hale said it was a “fantastic result getting a 10-0 for the second time this season. We were told prior that Atherstone was coming to win according to Harry Chapman, so it’s nice to teach him his second lesson in 2 weeks. Onto West Brom away now which will be a big test.” Josh himself was best winner 4, with Jordan Bradbury got MVP for winning 15. Away captain Tom Lea got MVP for them.
M&B Cheslyn Hay earned their first win of the season with a great win over the Champions the George. Aaron Tapper was best winner 8, with Joe Green getting MVP for winning 17. For the Champs it was Nathan Dawes best winner 10, and Ryan Prosser MVP for winning 18. Moseley CC completed a good couple of weeks with 4 winners at West Brom FSC. Adam Kirby was best winner 13, but Alex Harrison got MVP for winning 20. For the home side it was Chris Watts who was best winner and MVP for his 10 victory. Tanworth-in-Arden against the Windmill was postponed because of the weather.
Greville Arms are now two clear of Atherstone Cons, with the George a further point behind. Tanworth are 7 behind M&B with a game in hand, and another 6 behind Moseley CC.
