Greville move back top, West Brom win away
Greville Arms have moved top in week 9 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They defeated Tanworth in Arden 9-1 to please captain Josh Hale. “Brilliant win for us against TIA, nearly completing a full house again for the 3rd time this season. Home form is where we’ve struggled in recent years so to be getting some of the results we have got this year is brilliant especially when we don’t think we’re playing that well at home currently. Onto a tough test away at TIA next week, Hopefully we can pull a result out.” Best winner and MVP was Pete Dunkley 7, with captain Stuart Bishop the winner for the visitors 19 to earn MVP. West Brom FSC picked up an away win 8-4 at M&B Cheslyn Hay. Ryan Hocknull was best winner and MVP 7 while Aaron Tapper was best and MVP for the hosts 9.
Moseley CC had another good home win, this time 6-4 over Willenhall Nordley. Captain Scott Saunders said “another good home result against a very good team. It was in the balance but a few good results in each 4 got us home. Good team performance with even the losers battling for every point.” Best winner was Bill Kinchin 6 and MVP Scott Follis 9. For the away side it was Kevin Hocknull best winner 8 and Ant Bracken MVP 10. Stretton Anglesey defeated Windmill 7-3 with Conor Chamberlain best winner 8 and John Dewey MVP 11. For the Mill it was Ade Cheadle best winner 12 and Dave Hayward MVP 16.
The Greville Arms are 6 ahead of the George, who are level with Stretton Anglesey. Tanworth in Arden are 9 behind M&B Cheslyn Hay and another 5 behind Windmill. Scott Follis now leads the League Averages on 8 wins, and is also on 4 MVPs with Rikki Higgs and Ryan Prosser.
