Week 7 Preview – Division One

Hamstead look for another away win, Baldwin face tough Triplex test

Division One leaders Hamstead will be looking for another away win in week 7 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Craig Dugdale said “we have played at Belmont the last 2 years, a tricky little green which we have yet to really trouble them on. However, we are playing with a lot of confidence at present so we will be going there to give it our best shot, I would hope we could get 3 winners anything more would be a bonus.” Hamstead have won their last three games, while Belmont have lost their last 4 and know they need to start winning again to move up the table. Baldwin are in 2nd place but face a tough trip to Triplex in 3rd. Skipper Jim Kernick knows it is “another difficult away game for us this week. The green is always pretty tricky and offers a good advantage to the home team. We will endeavour to pick up a point or two if at all possible.” Triplex have been good at home so far, including a whitewash in their last one. Woodfield meet local rivals Victoria Park, with a couple of their ex players now playing for the Park, so it could be a close game. Langley lost their last home game so will be looking to bounce back against Bradmore, who come off a fine home win over Baldwin last week.
