Wolverhampton Derby, Top two away
There is a first Wolverhampton Derby between Bradmore and Woodfield in week 11 of the Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League with both teams needing a good end to the season to be able to win promotion. Bradmore skipper Reece Farr says “tonight displays a local Derby, we have a couple missing, but hopefully we can put on a decent result, I think our promotion hopes have gone but you never know!” The top two teams are both away this week, with Hamstead travelling to third placed Victoria Park, who know a good home win will close the gap on the top two, while Hamstead know that a win could all but seal promotion. Second placed Triplex make the trip to Belmont Services, who have picked up recently after a poor start, but Triplex know they are capable of winning there. Baldwin are in 4th and travel to Langley knowing a win could be needed to be able to win promotion. Captain Jim Kernick says “we’re expecting a very tough game against Langley. We have had mixed results in the last 2 visits, In 2019 we got battered by 68 shots and had 1 winner, however last year we managed an away win by scrapping home by 9 shots with 4 winners. We’re under no illusions that getting that scoreline won’t be easy at all as Langley have strengthened their squad during 2023 and are a formidable home team the majority of the time. They’re a good bunch of people and we’re definitely looking forward to the challenge.”
