Hamstead go further ahead, Bradmore get payback
Hamstead have gone further ahead at the top of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League after beating Victoria Park 9-1. Lucas Hall was best winner and MVP 3 for them, while Peter Cookson was the winner for the Park 14 to earn MVP. They are now 3 points ahead of Triplex and Baldwin after Triplex beat Belmont Services 7-3 and Baldwin defeated Langley 8-2. Triplex’s best winner was Daniel Bowater 3 and MVP was Steve Darling for winning 9. Walter Redfearn was best winner and MVP 10 for Belmont. Baldwin’s best winner was Ryan Walters 6 with Emily Kernick MVP for winning 7. For Langley it was Jonathan Blakeman best winner 15 and Karen Rolls MVP for winning 16.
Bradmore got payback for their home defeat against Woodfield the week before by beating the same team on their own green 8-4. Captain Reece Farr says “we are chuffed with our away win at Woodfield especially after losing at home the week before. We got off to a great start being 3-1 up with Ben Dixon being 11-2 down and virtually running out (to be best winner and MVP 12), Andy Stevens beating Nick Newey and Geoff Wylde beating John Newey. Darrell Handley beat Chris Marshman at the back and the others battled well, Mark Crook is probably still having nightmares about his last end!” Best winner for Woodfield was Joe Dicken 15 with Lee Bevin MVP for winning 19. Woodfield did bounce back the next night with a 9-1 win over Langley. Lyndon Hazlehurts was best winner 8 and Rory Rollason MVP for winning 13, while Matt Beaman was best winner and MVP 13 for the away side.
Hamstead are three clear of Baldwin and Triplex at the top. Joe Bown is one win ahead at the top of the League Averages, and Jonathan Blakeman is one ahead at the top of the MVPs table.
