Mill earn vital win, Stretton go top
Windmill earned a vital win in week 14 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. They defeated the Greville Arms 9-1 to please captain Stu Gittings. “A great result apart from one non runner. In fairness our first four were really good, Danny Statham, Phil Chester (best winner and MVP 11), Ade Cheadle and Glynn Storer. Glynn was the pick for me as Carl Fielding is a top top player in my opinion. So for us to have the first four, for what I believe is the first time this season, was a super start. Personally I went on 5 and played Jon Palmer who apart from a ropey first end nailed it from there on in and to be fair I chucked them everywhere for the most part (to be best winner 4 and MVP). Exceptionally pleased for Dan Green and Alan Brown to get the wins as they in their words don’t think they have contributed much this season although they have. Dave Hayward did his best to lose from a decent position but got over the line and in fairness has been one of our best players this season. So we have put our destiny back in our hands this season and will be fighting to stay in this division.” Stretton Anglesey are now top after beating Atherstone Cons 7-3. Matt Kelly-Wally was their best winner 6 and Adam Stubbs MVP for winning 13. For the visitors it was Ben Lynch best winner 12 and Tyler Dewis MVP for winning 19. Willenhall Nordley continued their good form with a 8-2 win over West Brom FSC. Calum Bray was best winner 8 and Ant Bracken MVP again 15. For the away side it was Andy Saunders who was best winner and MVP 15. M&B Cheslyn Hay are still fighting after beating Tanworth in Arden 8-2. Lee Hulse was their best winner and MVP 5 while Dave Wolverson was best for Tanworth 15 to earn him MVP.
Stretton Anglesey lead by a point to the Greville Arms and by another point to Willenhall Nordley. M&B Cheslyn Hay are 5 behind Moseley CC who are 7 behind Tanworth in Arden, but have two games in hand. Ant Bracken leads the League Averages on 12 wins and MVPs outright on 6.
