Week 6 Review – Division One

Vic Park win again, Triplex win well

Victoria Park won away again in week 6 of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League, this time 8-4 at Langley. Joint captain Chris Ward said “another good performance on a tricky Langley green – could have been even better with a couple of close losers but we’ll certainly take the result which keeps us at the business end of the division.” Best winners were Stuart Edwards and Pete Cookson 13, with the latter gaining MVP. For the hosts it was Nathan Davis best winner 12 and Mike Tunstall MVP for winning 19. Triplex moved second with a 9-1 win over M&B Cheslyn Hay. Skipper Chris Baker says it was “another solid home performance against a top quality side. Dan Baller (best winner) 21-9, Steve Darling 21-10, Matt Caines 21-10 and Chris Bergin 21-11 were the stars of the show in a 53 shot victory. We move onto another really tough game at Woodfield next week.” Simon Dreher was MVP for winning 15, while it was Jordan Picken who won for M&B 17 to earn MVP. Tanworth in Arden will be happy with 4 winners at Royal Oak led by Jake Williams 11 to earn him MVP. For the home side it was Adam Hopwood best winner and MVP 6. Belmont Services got their second win of the season with a 6-4 success against Woodfield. Captain Brian Jordan led the way winning 7 to earn MVP, with John Newey doing the same for the away side with his 12 win.

Victoria Park are 6 ahead of Triplex, who have a game in hand, and M&B Cheslyn Hay. Steve Darling leads 5 other players on 5 wins. Pete Cookson has now won the most MVPs with 4.
