M&B win away, Tanworth whitewash
M&B won away 9-3 at Woodfield in week 9 of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League to close the gap at the top. Captain Steve Davis says it was “a good team performance from our guys who took well to a friendly paced Woodfield green considering the recent weather. However no time to dwell as we have another tough trip to TIA next week.” Steve himself was best winner and MVP 8, with Joe Dicken the same for the hosts with his 7 win. Victoria Park extended their lead at the top of the table with a 8-2 win over Triplex. Gordon Hawkins was best winner and MVP 7 with Rob Recardo the same for the away side with his 17 win. Tanworth in Arden had a whitewash over Langley led by captain Stuart Bishop with his 6 win to earn MVP. Langley’s Paul Rolls got MVP for getting 20. Penn defeated the Royal Oak 7-3 as Reece Farr led the way with his 9 win to earn MVP. For the Oak it was Dane Hopwood best winner and MVP 10.
Victoria Park are 6 ahead of M&B Cheslyn Hay, who are 3 ahead of Triplex. Stuart Edwards, Pete Cookson and Nick Newey are all on 7 wins with Pete on 4 MVPs along with Steve Darling.
