Two good home wins
Week 12 of Division One of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League saw two 8-2 home wins for the bottom two sides Hamstead and Langley. Hamstead dented Woodfield’s bid for promotion to respond brilliantly to captain Craig Dugdale’s comments. “A great performance by the team against a Woodfield side looking to push for promotion. First four was closely fought with 2 winners apiece, John Newey putting in the best card winning 10 and brother Nick playing very well to earn MVP and 17 win. For us James Parkes and Mark Orme played well to win 14 and 15 respectively, so just 2 shots in it after 4. With the green changing we had all four winners in the second four to clinch a 20 shot win. Craig Webb best winner for us winning 7 from being 6-5 down. Wendy Bennett played the green excellently to win 11 and deservedly gaining MVP. For Woodfield, Cheryl Caswell looked like winning playing very well to race to 18-10 lead however Richard Parkes put in a spirited comeback to get over the line with a great 21-19 win. Dave Pitt finished the match off with a hard fought 15 win. Really pleased with the win and still an outside chance of avoiding the wooden spoon.” Langley defeated Victoria Park to move above them in the table. Best winner was Karemjit Gurdas 7 with Jonathan Blakeman getting MVP for winning 11. For the Park Stuart Edwards was best winner 10 and Julie Alderman MVP for winning 20. Tanworth in Arden against Penn was postponed.
Boldmere Sports & Social are 9 ahead of Tanworth in Arden who are two ahead of Woodfield. John Newey and Matthew Grundy have won 8 games and Nick Newey has gone ahead on 4 MVPs.
