Bottom four all win well, Greville nearly there
There were some vital wins at the bottom of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League in week 14. Bottom placed M&B Cheslyn Hay got the biggest as they beat Moseley CC 9-1 at home. Spokesman Aaron Tapper says “coming off of the back of just 1 winner away at Moseley our challenge was to try and return the favour. Our first 4 set the tone on a holding Cheslyn Hay green after the afternoon’s downpour. The result helps to keep us in the race for survival. There will be a few twists and turns still to come I’m sure but going to the wire is a certainty.” Best winners for them were Dan Edkins and Neil Bromley 21-8, with the latter gaining MVP. The winner for the visitors was Scott Follis 19 to earn him MVP. Triplex had a vital 8-2 victory over Stretton Anglesey to please missing captain Chris Baker. “A very good win and a very useful 8 points before we have two consecutive away games at Nordley and Moseley.” Best winner for them was Dan Bowater 6, with Steve Darling getting MVP for winning 20. Stretton’s best was Matt Milsom 18 to earn him MVP. The George got a good 8-2 win over West Brom FSC, Jon Palmer and Rich Dandy best winners 10, with Rich getting MVP. Jason Cooke was best winner and MVP for the away side 15. Baldwin kept clear of the pack with a 8-2 win over Willenhall Nordley. John Beet was best winner 9 and Ryan Walters MVP for winning 10 for them, with Nordley’s best being Dan Bodley 12 to earn their MVP. The Greville Arms could win the league next week after they won 10-2 at Windmill. Steve Wallace was best winner 6 but Ryan Prosser got MVP for winning 7. Glynn Storer was best winner and MVP for the Mill 16.
The Greville Arms are 34 clear of Stretton Anglesey, who are 4 ahead of Moseley CC. Only two points seperate Windmill in bottom and M&B Cheslyn Hay in 6th, West Brom FSC being the other team currently in the relegation zone. Callum Mitchell is one win ahead of Danny Statham, but Danny is still well ahead in the MVP standings.
