Three away wins, Nordley smash Champs
There were three away wins in week 4 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Triplex moved further clear at the top with a 9-3 win at Tanworth in Arden, Tanworth’s first home loss in three years! Skipper Liam Lowery says “again it has been 2 great games over the last 2 weeks against the Tanworth lads. But again my lads have came out on top, it was a brilliant performance from us to carry on this run we are on. Nice week break now but there will be no relaxing for us. We wish the Tanworth lads all the best for rest of the season.” Paul Baller was best winner 9, with Liam himself MVP for winning 12. Dave Wolverson was best winner for the home side 13 and Peter Mole MVP for winning 14 for the home side. Stretton Anglesey edged home by a single point at the Baldwin to win 7-5 there. Spokesman Conor Chamberlain says “we were probably quite fortunate to get the win and our losers probably won it for us scrapping big breaks when a long way down. Great result for us with some of our regular players missing.” Conor himself was best winner 8 with John Dewey MVP for winning 10. For the hosts it was John Beet best winner and MVP 11.
There was another 7-5 win as West Brom overturned Boldmere Sports & Socials win at their place last week. Best winner and MVP for them was Mike Hill 5 with John Evans best winner 15 and Scott Wallis MVP for winning 17 for the home side. Willenhall Nordley beat the Champions Greville Arms 9-1 as Ant Bracken led the way 21-2 to earn MVP. The Greville’s winner was Darren Round 12 to earn MVP. The George also won 9-1 against Moseley CC, Phil Clinton led the way 21-7 and Mark Street was MVP for winning 15. Adam Kirby was the winner for Moseley 18 to get MVP.
Triplex lead Stretton Anglesey by 5 points, with The George another 3 points behind. Tanworth in Arden are one behind Baldwin and another two behind Willenhall Nordley. Chris Bergin is the only player 4 out of 4.
