Nordley earn big win, George win away
Willenhall Nordley earned a big 9-1 win over previous league leaders Atherstone Cons in week 8 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Dan Bodley said it was a “great win last night getting back on track. It was a good game with the Atherstone lads. We need to build on this and finish the season strong. A few new young additions to the side should help with that.” Callum Bray was best winner 6 and Kevin Hocknull MVP 10. For the visitors, it was Liam Dennis the winner 18 to earn him MVP. The George won away for the first time this season at the Windmill. Skipper Elliot McGuinness said it was “a great win for us on a graveyard for us over the years. It’s taken us a few weeks to get going on a Monday but great to get an away win and return to the top of the table.” Best winner was Russ Prosser 6, with MVP being Ryan Prosser, for the 3rd match running, with his 9 win. For the Mill it was Kevin Handley best winner 8 and Glynn Storer MVP 9. The Greville Arms beat West Brom 7-3 with Callum Mitchell best winner 2 and Steve Wallace MVP 4, while Greg Smith was best winner 12 for the away side and Rachel Bennett MVP 17. Tanworth in Arden and M&B Cheslyn Hay got much needed 7-3 wins over Moseley CC and Stretton Anglesey respectively. Tanworth’s best winner was Tim Mole 12, while Willie Jeynes got MVP for this 20 win. For the visitors it was James Seville best winner and MVP 17. M&Bs best winner and MVP was Aaron Tapper 8, with Rikki Higgs best winner and MVP for Stretton with his 11 success.
The George lead the Greville Arms by 3 points, with Atherstone Cons another three behind. Tanworth in Arden are 6 adrift of M&B Cheslyn Hay, who are another 6 behind Windmill. Greg Smith leads Ryan Prosser and Scott Follis on 7 wins, while Rikki Higgs and Ryan Prosser both have 4 MVPs.
