Baldwin shock Greville, West Brom continue form
Baldwin earned their best ever win in this league after beating the Greville Arms 9-1 in week 10 of the Premier Division of the Summit Garage Staffordshire Premier Bowls League. Captain Jim Kernick says “it was a great team performance from start to finish. Really pleased how it finished, getting 7 winners against a very strong Greville team exceeded expectations. Can’t really say to much else to be honest, apart from that picking up every single point we can from all our remaining fixtures is our priority in the fight to attempt to stay up. We move on and try again against another very good team in Windmill next week.” Best winner and MVP was Jim himself 8, while the Greville’s winner was Jack Newsome 16 to earn him MVP. West Brom FSC won 9-3 at Moseley CC to continue their good form. Skipper Matt Hocknull says “after what was looking like a very tight first four, we ended up having all 4 winners which stood us in good stead to see the game home. With a spirited fightback from Moseley’s back 4 we were happy to come away with the victory.” Greg Smith was best winner and MVP 10, with Bill Kinchin the same for the hosts with his 12 win.
Windmill earned an important 8-2 win over Stretton Anglesey. Best winner was Dave Chester 10 with Glynn Storer MVP for his 12 win. Jack Brooks was best winner and MVP for Stretton 17. Atherstone Cons had their best win of the season with a 8-2 victory over the Champions The George. Willie Beal was best winner and MVP 5, with Ryan Prosser and Elliot McGuinness best for the visitors 12, Ryan getting MVP. Willenhall Nordley also won 8-2 against Hamstead. Kevin Hocknull was best winner and MVP for them with his 2 win, while Ben Harris was best winner for the away side 8 and Craig Webb MVP for winning 13.
